Beaches close to Barcelona

Barcelona is a beautiful city with pretty much everything you need on your vacation. With it’s big city, parks, mountains and beaches you have lots of options to do while you’re here. But Barcelona is also a very crowded city, and this means that the beaches here in summer are also very crowded. So if you want to escape the city life, read on further for some beautiful beaches close to Barcelona 🙂

Badalona

Playa Badalona is a beach about 30 minutes away with the metro. Even though you can still take the metro from Barcelona, you can really see the difference in how less crowded it is. It is a perfect way to escape the city life of Barcelona but you don’t have to travel to far. From the metro station it is about a 10 minute walk to the beach, and Badalona has a cute town so you can also wander around through the small streets.

Sitges

You can take the train from either Barcelona Sants or Passeig de Gracia to Sitges. it is Rodalies R2S towards Estación de tren Sant Vicenç de Calders. It takes about 40 minutes and a single ticket is around 5 euros. From the train station it is about 10/15 minute walk to the beach.

Garraf

With the train from Barcelona you can also go to Garraf, it is a small village with a beautiful beach. It is definitely worth checking out. The only thing with Garraf is that the beach is pretty small, so it can be crowded definitely when it is the holiday season. But nonetheless I do think it is worth checking out! It takes about 40 minutes and you can take the train at either Barcelona Sants or Passeig de Gracia. It is the Rodalies R2S towards estación de tren Vilanova I la Geltrú. The beach is about a 5 minute walk from the train station and a roundtrip is around 8 euros.

Platja Castelldefels

Another beautiful beach is Platja Castelldefels, this one is about 30 minutes with the train from either Barcelona Sants or Passeig de Gracia. You need to take the Rodalies train R2S towards Vilanova I la Geltrú. A roundtrip ticket is around 4 euros. From the train station in Castelldefels it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach. The beach is really big, so it is easy to find a spot 🙂
