A few days in Paris

Hola! Paris is one of my favorite cities of Europe, I’ve been there a few times. But the latest trip I went with two friends, with the train from Amsterdam. Normally I always went with the bus, but that takes about 6 hours, and most of the time you don’t really have a lot of space. But still it is a cheap way to go to Paris from The Netherlands. But I have to say the moment I stepped on the train I fell in love, it is so easy, it takes only about 3,5 hours to get to Paris from Amsterdam. The tickets can be really cheap if you plan your trip on time and you have enough space. Overall loved it and know for sure that from now on I will take the train to Paris 🙂

As of this moment I live in Barcelona, I didn’t get the chance to go on a trip to Paris from Barcelona yet. I checked, and they have a direct train which takes about 6 hours, but didn’t experienced it yet. Of course you can always book a flight to Paris as well.

In this post I wanted to talk about the things we did in Paris, keep on reading if you want to know what you can see and do in Paris 🙂

Day one

We took the train at around 07:15, and arrived at Gare de Nord at around 10:30. We went straight to our hotel to drop our stuff and after that we went to the Sacre Coeur to enjoy the beautiful view of Paris. After staying there for a bit, we went back to our hotel, to check our rooms and refreshed ourselves for the rest of the day. When we were ready, we walked through the Montmartre neighborhood. For dinner we made a reservation at Les Fines Lames, the food was really good! For my best friend’s birthday we went to the Eiffel Tower after dinner, so we could see the lights when it turned 00:00. That was the last thing for day one.

Eiffel Tower

I mean, do I even have to say it? I think it is clear that your trip to Paris won’t be complete unless you have at least seen the Eiffel tower. But let me just say that the view from the tower is really worth it!

To get to the top a ticket is €29,40. Check their website for the opening times.

You can find the Sacre Coeur in the neighborhood Montmartre. It is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to the sacred heart of Jesus. Here you’ll find the famous view of Paris!

The Basilic is open every day from 06:30 to 22:30, entree is free for all.

Day two

For breakfast we went to Marie Belle, the food here was also really nice. When we finished we went straight to Champs-Elysées, where we walked for a bit and did some shopping. After that I bought Macarons and we ate these on a bench enjoying the view 🙂 Then it was time for a boat tour, I really recommend doing this. It is such a nice way to see Paris! After we were done, it was already time for dinner. This time we went to East Mamma, it is an Italian restaurant. And the food was soooo good!

Champs-Élysées

This street is one of the most known of the world. It is known for the theatres, cafés, luxury shops and it is also the finish of the Tour de France cycling race.

Boat tour

My friend found the boat tour on Get Your Guide, it is only 18 euros and the duration is one hour. There is an audio guide included, and you will see highlights such as the Eiffel tower, Notre Dame and Louvre museum.

Day 3

Today we took the train again back to The Netherlands, so we didn’t have a lot of time left to see Paris. In the morning we went for breakfast at a random cafe. After that we went to a museum called Musée de l’Orangerie, I really loved the art here. When we were done, we went to get some crepes, and walked around for a bit until we had to go back to get our stuff and catch our train.

For us it wasn’t the first time going to Paris, so we agreed on just enjoying our time here and taking it slow instead of hurrying to see all the highlights. We really had the best time!

Musée de l’Orangerie

Here you can find works of Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Paul Cézanne and much more! A ticket is €12,50
